NEW YORK (Associated Press) — Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic are the two most important players in the middle of the NBA. Together, these two centers have won three Most Valuable Player awards during the regular season, and it is possible that they may win another one in the near future.

It is during the postseason that their paths diverge in such a significant way.

By guiding the Denver Nuggets to the NBA championship the previous year, Jokic solidified his position as one of the game’s all-time greats, and it appears that he is determined to continue to climb the ranks.

All that Embiid is doing is attempting to remain on the court.

It is quite rare for him to be in a state of health that allows him to make a genuine attempt at winning a championship, and he is already at a diminished level of strength just one game into this postseason.

On Monday, Jokic will attempt to guide the Denver Nuggets to a 2-0 lead over the Los Angeles Lakers. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers are hoping that Embiid will assist them in tying up their series against the New York Knicks.

In Denver’s victory over the Los Angeles Lakers 114-103 on Saturday, Jokic had 32 points and 12 rebounds. Over the course of twenty straight postseason games, he has scored twenty points or more.

It is something that we see all the time, guy,” said Michael Malone, the coach of the Nuggets. Because Nikola is such a talented player, he never ceases to shine, regardless of the size of the stage or the intensity of the spotlights.

After throwing the ball off the backboard to himself and slamming it down late in the first half, Embiid appeared to reinjure his surgically repaired left knee, which had previously been rehabilitated. Embiid gave the impression that he was on his way to having a great night against the Knicks.

Although he returned and finished with 29 points, the player who won the scoring title and Most Valuable Player award from the previous season appeared to be limited. He went 2-for-11 after halftime and missed all five shots in the fourth quarter.

In every single one of the three most recent postseasons, he has been absent from at least one game. However, in order to assist the 76ers in qualifying for the playoffs, he returned to the game after being sidelined for two months following surgery on February 6. His teammates were not surprised that he continued to play in discomfort during Game 1.

Tyrese Maxey, an All-Star player, was quoted as saying, “He’s always a fighter, and he’s always going to try to go out there and give his all for his team.” Therefore, if he is able to go, or if he believes that he is able to go, then he will most certainly be out there.
